Solar Powered Batteries
How To Use Solar Powered Batteries?
The ever increasing cost of electric power generated through combustion of fossil fuels and
growing concern about the environmental problems such as the greenhouse effect and global warming have given us a
reason to reconsider our lifestyles and the way we can contribute to clean environment. One effective solution for
this problem is the use of non-conventional sources of energy such as solar and wind power for generating
electricity.
The operation of any solar appliance is based on its utilization of solar energy. For the purpose of harnessing
the solar energy directly from the sun and converting it into valuable electrical power, every solar appliance is
fitted two important components. The first component is the solar panel that contains serially connected
photovoltaic solar cells that are responsible for capturing the solar light and energy and generate electrical
energy.
One important fact is that the energy released by the sun on a day is equivalent to one thousand watts of power
per square meter. The electric current thus converted must be either distributed or stored at certain place. When
the machine is in operation, the converted electric current is used by the appliance for its operations. However,
what happens to the energy when the machine is switched off. Here comes the utilization of second component, which
is the battery system. In fact, batteries can be considered as the heart of the solar electric system.
